YYC Unhoused operates on the principle of Zero-Friction Mutual Aid. We believe you should not have to sacrifice your privacy to give or receive help. We only collect data that is strictly necessary to facilitate mutual aid, run the platform, and protect our community.

What We Collect

• Account Data: If you choose to create an account, we collect the username and email you provide, along with a securely hashed password. Account creation is entirely optional.
• Voluntary Disclosures: Information you voluntarily provide in forum posts, mutual aid requests, or direct messages. Do not share sensitive personal information unless you intend for it to be visible or processed by our systems.
• Technical Data: Necessary technical data (like IP addresses and standard server logs) strictly for security, rate-limiting, and preventing abuse.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to keep the platform running, match aid requests with sponsors, and maintain a safe environment. We do not track you for advertising, and we do not sell your data.

Zero Third-Party Sharing

We aggressively protect our users, interviewees, frontline workers, and contributors. Your data is never shared with third parties, law enforcement, or authorities without a legally binding warrant or subpoena.Even then, we log and minimize data to ensure there is as little as possible to hand over.
